This experience is about more than catching fish. It is about spending a few hours outside, finding the right fishing spot, learning how to fish and slowing down around the fire afterwards.

Your guide takes care of the equipment and helps you throughout the day, whether you are holding a fishing rod for the first time or already have experience.

If we catch something suitable for the fire, your catch can become part of the meal. And if the fish are not biting that day, we still make sure there is something good to eat.

There is no single fishing spot for this experience. Lofoten gives us several possibilities, from fishing along the coast to freshwater lakes and rivers.

Your guide chooses the location according to the season, weather and fishing conditions. This means the experience can look different from one day to the next – and allows us to make the most of the conditions we have.

WHAT CAN YOU CATCH?

Different Waters. Different Fish.

What we fish for depends on where we go and the time of year. Depending on the season and location, we may fish for trout, salmon or Arctic char in freshwater, or species such as cod, pollock and mackerel along the coast.

Fishing is always unpredictable, and a catch can never be guaranteed. Your guide chooses the location and fishing method according to the conditions and what we are hoping to catch that day.

COOKED OUTDOORS

From Fishing to the Fire

After fishing, we slow things down and gather around the fire for a meal outdoors.

When the day’s catch allows, you become part of the whole process. Together with your guide, you learn how to fillet and prepare the fish before cooking it over the fire and turning your own catch into a meal. If fishing has been quiet, your guide brings along local ingredients so there is always something good to prepare and enjoy together.

From catching the fish to preparing and cooking it yourself, the meal becomes part of the experience – and a pretty special way to end a day of fishing in Lofoten.

In case of bad weather, we reserve the right to reschedule or cancel the tour. In case of cancellation due to bad weather, a full refund will be issued.

A fantastic experience with Hooked on Lofoten! We had five people on the boat, and the guide was absolutely great. Even though the fishing season is quite challenging right now, I managed to catch three large cod and several saithe. A really wonderful extra service at the end: the guide professionally gutted and cleaned the catch, so I was able to take the fish with me perfectly prepared to eat. Highly recommended!

Erland is an incredibly knowledgeable guy with bags of humour too - ask about his fish butchery! We got a unique experience that we won’t forget in a hurry. Top class, would recommend to anyone in Lofoten (and although not included, the sauna and dip in the sea after was the cherry on the top!). Talkative in a good and relaxed way and was both joking and telling anecdotes. After the fishing trip he instructed us how to take care of every part of the fish and cut up the fish for us. We also had the Hooked and cooked experience were Erland instructs the chef how he should serve every bit of the fish, and the chef at Nyvågar was incredible in making Erlands vision come to life. I wish we’d found them sooner because this was by far our favorite experience in Lofoten. Erland was very genuine and knowledgeable, let us know what to expect, and was very kind and accommodating with our 4yo— even setting up a child’s fishing rod for him to use. Meet Lasse

Fishing has been part of Lasse’s life for as long as he can remember. It is a genuine passion – one that has taken him from fishing along the coast to rivers and lakes, always curious about the fish, the water and what works under different conditions.

He even makes his own fishing lures, carefully choosing durable materials and creating them to be used season after season.

For Lasse, fishing is not simply about catching as much as possible. It is about the experience, understanding the water and treating what you catch with respect. Keeping fish for the meal is part of that, but catch and release is always welcome if you prefer to let your fish go.

Whether it is your first time fishing or something you already love, Lasse is happy to share his knowledge, techniques and passion along the way.

WINTER FISHING

Try Ice Fishing in Lofoten

When winter settles over Lofoten and the conditions are right, fishing can take us onto the frozen lakes for a completely different experience.

Together with your guide, you head out onto safe ice, drill through the surface and fish through the ice surrounded by the quiet winter landscape. Your guide brings the equipment and shows you how it is done, so no previous ice fishing experience is needed.

Ice fishing is weather and ice dependent and can only be offered when conditions are considered safe.
