& Culture Tour
Your Art Journey Through Lofoten
Lofoten has attracted artists and craftspeople for generations, inspired by its changing light, dramatic landscapes, fishing culture and life by the sea. This full-day journey takes you through some of Lofoten’s most creative communities, from Kabelvåg to Henningsvær, Stamsund and Nusfjord.
Along the way, you will discover painting, glass art, ceramics, wool and contemporary art while travelling through the landscapes that continue to inspire the people who create here.
KABELVÅG
Lofoten Glass & Galleri Lille Kabelvåg
We begin in Kabelvåg with two very different sides of Lofoten’s creative scene. At Lofoten Glass, step into Cathinka Mæhlum’s colourful gallery, shop and working studio, where her glass art is inspired by Lofoten’s changing light and especially the Northern Lights – reflected in her signature Northern Lights spheres.
Just nearby, Galleri Lille Kabelvåg offers a completely different experience. Founded by artists Thor Erdahl and Inger Anne Nyaas, the gallery is filled with paintings, graphic art, textiles and works from a wide range of artists – an eclectic and surprising place with new discoveries around every corner.
HENNINGSVÆR
Galleri Lofoten & Engelskmannsbrygga
Next, we travel to Henningsvær, where art and coastal life have long existed side by side. At Galleri Lofoten, discover the largest collection of North Norwegian Golden Age paintings, alongside contemporary works. Paintings of fishermen, harbours, dramatic landscapes and Lofoten’s extraordinary light offer a fascinating glimpse into how artists have captured the islands for more than a century.
We continue to Engelskmannsbrygga, a creative workshop by the harbour where glass and ceramics are made by hand. Here, traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary design in a working environment closely connected to Henningsvær and the surrounding landscape.
stamsund
Galleri 2 & Lofoten Wool
From Henningsvær, we continue to Stamsund and Galleri 2, an independent gallery founded by artists Scott Thoe and Vebjørg Hagene Thoe. The gallery presents changing exhibitions by Norwegian and international artists alongside works by its founders, giving each visit a different encounter with contemporary art.
We then visit Lofoten Wool, where locally sourced wool, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design come together. Discover yarn and textile products made from wool from Lofoten and Northern Norway, and experience the workshop and plant-dyeing studio where local natural materials are transformed into beautiful, functional pieces.
Nusfjord
Salteriet Gallery
Our final stop takes us to Nusfjord, one of Lofoten’s oldest and best-preserved fishing villages. In the heart of the village, an old salt house once used to preserve fish roe has been transformed into Salteriet Gallery – bringing contemporary art into a building deeply rooted in Lofoten’s fishing history.
Across two floors, the gallery presents changing exhibitions by Norwegian and international artists, including a dedicated collaboration with the Queen Sonja Print Award. After exploring the art, there is time to experience the historic surroundings of Nusfjord before we begin our journey back towards Kabelvåg and Svolvær.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fantastic experience with Hooked on Lofoten! We had five people on the boat, and the guide was absolutely great. Even though the fishing season is quite challenging right now, I managed to catch three large cod and several saithe. A really wonderful extra service at the end: the guide professionally gutted and cleaned the catch, so I was able to take the fish with me perfectly prepared to eat. Highly recommended!Posted on Google![]()

The fishing trip was amazing, the guide was professional and answered every question. Everyone fished something and the experience was authentic. I would reccomand this experience to everyone even if they have never fished.Posted on Google![]()

We did a 5 hour shore fishing + open fire cooking experience with Lasse as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and humorous and cooked us some fantastic fresh fish burgers for lunch. Would highly recommend this to anyone, whether beginner or more experienced! Thanks for the enjoyable day 😊 Linden, Kent & YeenPosted on Google![]()

Genuinely great experience. Went on the crab & dinner trip but got way more than what we expected. Erland is an incredibly knowledgeable guy with bags of humour too - ask about his fish butchery! We got a unique experience that we won’t forget in a hurry. Top class, would recommend to anyone in Lofoten (and although not included, the sauna and dip in the sea after was the cherry on the top!). Also shout out to the Nyvågar restaurant and hotel staff who were top notch as well!Posted on Google![]()

Vil i aller høysete grad anbefale denne turen!Posted on Google![]()

This was a super day! Erland is very professional and a really nice guy! Talkative in a good and relaxed way and was both joking and telling anecdotes. After the fishing trip he instructed us how to take care of every part of the fish and cut up the fish for us. We also had the Hooked and cooked experience were Erland instructs the chef how he should serve every bit of the fish, and the chef at Nyvågar was incredible in making Erlands vision come to life. Amazing day and amazing dinner with our own fish! Worth every penny spent!Posted on Google![]()

If you want a small group excursion with local guides, this is the place! I wish we’d found them sooner because this was by far our favorite experience in Lofoten. Erland was very genuine and knowledgeable, let us know what to expect, and was very kind and accommodating with our 4yo— even setting up a child’s fishing rod for him to use. Don’t skip the chef’s preparation, the food is incredible— and not just because you helped catch it!Posted on Google![]()

We had the most amazing catch and cook experience with Lasse!!! Our day with Hooked on Lofoten was truly one of our best days in Norway. We cannot recommend this trip enough to people who want a great experience, whether you’re a fishing purist or a nature lover. Lasse was truly amazing, so knowledgeable and kind. He gave us an incredible day, and his cooking was top notch!Posted on Google![]()

We had a couple of great days with Lasse and Eirik (separately) hiking & cycling. Both are clearly passionate about Lofoten, knowledgable and led our group confidently. They’re also nice, respectful guys who felt like an extension of our group and were able to adapt to our needs easily- making for an even more enjoyable trip. Would book again if I’m ever lucky enough to be back in Lofoten ;)
